01Information We Collect
We collect information in four ways:
Information you provide directly.When you create an account or use the Service, you may provide your name, email address, and payment details. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from your Google account. During onboarding you may also provide your target exam date and the CELPIP band you're aiming for.
Information generated through use. As you practice, we record your answers, scores, time spent per question, and overall session data. This data is what powers AI feedback and your progress dashboard.
Voice recordings. When you complete a Speaking exercise or the Speaking section of a mock exam, we capture an audio recording of your spoken response through your microphone. Recording only happens after you grant microphone permission and start a response — never in the background — and the recording is uploaded to our servers to generate your score feedback and preserve your practice history.
Information collected automatically. We collect standard log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL) and use cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 6.
02How We Use It
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- Deliver the Service, including AI-powered score feedback and progress tracking.
- Process payments and send billing-related communications.
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, subscription receipts). We will only send marketing emails with your explicit consent.
- Improve the accuracy of our AI scoring models using aggregated, anonymized data.
- Monitor for and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
03AI Score Processing
Your practice answers are not sold or shared with third parties
When you submit a Writing or Speaking response, it is sent to our AI scoring infrastructure to generate per-criterion feedback. Speaking responses are submitted as compressed audio recordings of your voice, captured through your microphone with your permission. For Reading and Listening exercises, your answer selections are scored locally and server-side.
We may use aggregated, anonymized practice data — with no personally identifiable information — to evaluate and improve the accuracy of our scoring models over time. Individual responses are retained only as long as necessary to maintain your progress history (see Section 5).
04Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:
- Payment processors.Razorpay processes all payments. Your card details are transmitted directly to Razorpay and are never stored on our servers. Razorpay's privacy policy governs their use of your payment information.
- Analytics providers.We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used (pages visited, general location, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data under Google's privacy policy; see Section 6 for details and your choices.
- Service providers. We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to run the Service — hosting, content delivery and media storage (task images, audio, and your Speaking recordings), error monitoring, and the AI infrastructure that scores your responses. Each receives only the data it needs to perform its function on our behalf.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Celpip Plus, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If Celpip Plus is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
05Data Retention
We retain your account information and practice data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes (such as billing records, which we retain for 7 years under Canadian tax law).
Audio recordings of your Speaking responses are retained as part of your practice history so you can review past attempts. They follow the same schedule as the rest of your personal information: deleted or anonymized within 90 days of account deletion. You can also request deletion of individual recordings at any time using the contact below.
Aggregated, anonymized practice statistics may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be used to identify you.
You may request deletion of your account and data at any time by emailing privacy@celpipplus.com.
07Your Privacy Rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and associated personal data.
- Withdraw consent to data processing where consent is the legal basis, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have been violated.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing.

08Children Under 13
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

09International Data Transfers
Celpip Plus is based in Canada. Our servers and those of our service providers may be located in Canada and the United States. If you access the Service from outside Canada, your information will be transferred to and processed in Canada or the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place when transferring personal information across borders, consistent with our obligations under PIPEDA.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects when the policy was most recently revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
